Why did you choose to go to Lublin, Poland?

I wanted to go somewhere different, a place I'd probably not visit anytime soon, and Poland was the choice I made among the available from my university.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

My scholarship lasted about 5 months, and I received 230 € for the Erasmus+ program, Poland is in the low zone.

What is the student lifestyle like in Lublin?

The ESN organizes something, and foreign students are mostly kind and fun to hang with. Unfortunately, not knowing Polish language, I did not meet a lot of Polish students, also because I had lessons in English mainly alone and not with other students. Those who are comfortable with English are usually friendly, the others stay with other Poles but I can understand them.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Lublin to other students?

Maybe not during wintertime, especially if you don't like cold! But during spring and summer, I imagine it gets a lot better.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Lublin?

If you're staying in a student dorm, not at all.

How much does it cost to live in Lublin?

I come from northern Italy, and for my standards, Poland, in general, is really cheap! I lived in Lublin and visited a few other places like Warsaw, Krakow, Wrocław and you don't need a lot of money to travel and live, especially if you stay in hostels when traveling. Beer is also very cheap!

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Lublin from your city?

If booked early, flights can cost you less then 30 €, but mainly going to Warsaw or Krakow, because Lublin's airport doesn't have a lot of flights. Anyway, from there you can take a train or a bus.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Lublin?

I don't know really hahaha, I don't particularly like to go to clubs, but Czekolada and Riviera are pretty good. If you're looking for something different, Kandeja Pub offers good live music and jam sessions every week!

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Lublin in the future?

Maybe just one thing, people in Poland get drunk very early in the evening, and I met a couple of "not very friendly"drunk guys on the streets, so just be careful in cases like this. Drunk people are very common to see here, also near the dorms. But apart from those who are morons also when sober, they are just funny. Enjoy you're staying!
