Outdoor Ice Rink and Skating
Outdoor Ice Skating in London
31 of December. A few hours left before we enter New Year and New Decade. Many people are asking themselves - how to spend the last day reflecting on the past, rushing through the day preparing meals for the family, doing shopping or planning where to go out in London.
We decided to do something we were never allowed or didn’t have an opportunity in Lithuania, but got it here – Ice Skating Outdoors!
Red Piano at Stratford Station
We took a tube from Stratford and went till Mile End, where we changed for District line towards to South Kensington. I was happily surprised when I saw a piano at Stratford International. Red piano in the middle of the train station! It made my day, as I saw for the first time in my life an old red piano. Unfortunately, I couldn’t pass by without playing, so we stopped for a while. One of my favorite little things about London is its artistic nature – you can find street musicians on the stations or in the metro. Moreover, during my few trips I notice the piano in more places (Paddington Station, King’s Cross, Tottenham Court). Everyone is welcomed here to play and it doesn’t matter if you are professional playing Chopin prelude or an amateur enjoying being creative.
Best way close the last chapter of 2019
When we reached South Kensington, we were amazed by how many tourists were waiting in queue to the Natural History Museum. Thus, I wouldn’t recommend visiting museums during this time period of the year. However, the ice rink is so beautiful. We felt like little kids excited ready for skating. We bought the tickets ( £17 per person at 1 pm ), got our stylish blue skates and entered a new world! Those 50 minwere amazing.
Even if you have no idea how to skate or have a child, who is for the first time on the ice rink, the outdoor Skate Rink at the Natural Museum is the perfect place. Firstly, there is staff on the ice rink who may help you. Secondly, children may get a ‘’ penguin’’, that will be ‘’assisting’’ and allowing them to learn how to stay stable on the ice.
Also, this place has fascinating surroundings, Christmas lights, carousels and stalls, where you can get hot chocolate or mulled wine. For those who will get hungry after skating, the waffle with Nutella is a great reward.
