The Best City I Have Ever Been

London is the capital of both England and the United Kingdom. It is located in the South of the island of Great Britain. It is the biggest and the most cosmopolitan city of Europe and the second one for its number of inhabitants after Paris. I was in London for three weeks thanks to a languages scholarship and I had no time to visit the whole city. I am sure I will be back next year because I am going to do my Erasmus programme in Birmingham. The transport is very expensive, but it is really efficient: the underground (also called “tube”) is the best transport infrastructure I have ever seen, it is very fast and you can go wherever you want in a few time. You can also visit the city in a typical bus for tourists with two floors, but it is slower. At night, the underground is closed, but there are buses available the 24 hours of the day. The bus that moves around the centre is the number 24.

With regard to the architectural beauty, London is really beautiful. The Big Ben is impressive; you never get tired of watching it. Furthermore, you will find lots of monuments such as The Houses of Parliament, the London Eye, the Tower Bridge, Westminster Abbey or the Buckingham Palace, among others. There are wonderful places like Trafalgar Square, Soho, etc.

London is a really cultural city, full of all kind of museums; most of them have free entrance: Natural History Museum, Imperial War Museum, British Museum and Tate Britain, among others. I also recommend the Royal London Wax Museum, but it is not free.

With regard to the night life, London never sleeps. You always will find a place to go. The best area to go out is the centre: Soho, Metra, Heaven, Ministry of Sound and Pacha, among other discos and thousands of pubs where you can take a pint peacefully. A very special pub is WalkAbout where you will be able to have free entrance before 8 p.m. on Mondays and you will be able to take some pint for one pound. Another funny place is a boat that you will find on the Thames called Bar&Co; you can get on that boat on the Temple pier near Temple pier underground station. There you can enjoy Spanish party with Spanish music and Spanish staff on Wednesdays, free entrance with flyer and a free short.

The city of London also offers you a great number of big and beautiful parks; the most famous are Hyde Park and Regent’s Park, but it is worth visiting all of them, especially if you want to go for a picnic.

With regard to the food, I recommend the traditional fish and chips and the English breakfast. You will find lots of interesting plates due to the cultural diversity of London: Asian, Indian, Thai and Mexican restaurants, among others.

In conclusion, it is a fantastic city and it will be better if you discover it by yourself. I highly recommend visiting London.
