Experience in London, United Kingdom by Tye
What is it like to live in London? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
I love it, I would recommend it. There's a very contemporary and creative atmosphere and it feels like the place to be to get ahead.
What is the student lifestyle like in London?
I don't find as much as distinguishment between the student and professional working groups as in other cities. But this seems like a good thing as there's lots to do and you're not stuck just meeting students.
How much does it cost to live in London?
It's expensive! It's always best to know someone to find the cheapest way to enjoy the city.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in London? Is there any advice you can give?
Don't move into halls! They rip you off.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
Fish and chips all the way! There is a great selection though, and you can always find something at anytime.
What places would you recommend visiting in London?
For breakfast: The Breakfast Club. For a view: South Bank. For drinking: Barrio North (not East). For the summer: Hampstead Heath (Highgate side).
Is it good to eat out in London? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
If you come to London you have to try the Fish and Chip restaurant, Toff's Fish, in Muswell Hill.
Is the nightlife good in London? Where is good to go?
Nightliffe is good but there are a lot of cliques around. East London can be fun and the music is good but can also be quite pretentious. There's plenty of places though, try not to pay more than £5 entry because it wouldn't make much difference.
What advice would you give future students heading to London?
Definitely try out lots of different things and be prepared for the busy atmosphere. Sometimes it's good to be naïve too as you explore and discover more in that way.
