Experience in London, United Kingdom by Rosy
What is it like to live in London? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
It is a vibrant, diverse, fascinating and beautiful city. It has medieval buildings rubbing up against the most contemporary architecture. There is something for everyone. It is a fascinating place to be. Johnson said once that "If you're tired of London, you're tired of life". London can be tiring; but there's always something new around the next corner
What is the student lifestyle like in London?
Well, let's not pretend it's a cheap city. But once you've sorted out your accommodation and your oyster card, there are loads of things to do in London that are free, from wandering around Camden Lock Market, to walking on Hamstead Heath, to street performances on every corner and tube station.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
Malaysian curry. Chinese in China Town. A Bacon butty in the nearest caff. Almost anything at Borough Market. Tea and Cake in the refectory at Westminster Abbey or the Crypt restaurant at St Martin's in the Fields.
What places would you recommend visiting in London?
Just start by the river and walk. Any of the art galleries or museums. Bloomsbury (in the backstreets).
What advice would you give future students heading to London?
Embrace it. Don't get stuck in your room. Just walk around. Look in Time Out for free exhibitions and free events. Its a wonderful city
