Experience in London, United Kingdom by Aggi
What is it like to live in London? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
London is an amazing place for someone of any age and the vibrancy and variety of people in the city, whilst daunting, will allow anyone to find their home here.
What is the student lifestyle like in London?
With campuses hidden among some of the cities most famous buildings, being a student in London means that you have a unique view of the city. On the one hand, you're most likely skint but on the other there are so many opportunities and offers made exclusively for students. Although the prices are high - the savvy student can find a lot of opportunities here that you can't have anywhere else. A free day out is perfectly possible in London - not to mention very fun!
How much does it cost to live in London?
A LOT! Rent's a real challenge, you either sacrifice location or space - if you're looking for both - be prepared to fork out a fortune!
Is it difficult to find accommodation in London? Is there any advice you can give?
It's not that difficult but it's easiest to go through one of the 1000s of estate agents so you're not ripped off as demand is VERY high.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
Foods of any region of the world can be found here. The best places for lunch are often the market stalls at Borough, Southbank, Exmouth, Leather Lane (a personal fave) and many more.
What places would you recommend visiting in London?
Borough Market; The Rose Theatre; National Portrait Gallery; John Soane Museum
Is it good to eat out in London? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
There are so many excellent restaurants to try. The Hoxton run of Vietnamese restaurants is particularly amazing. Two favourites are Kimchee and Dishoom
Is the nightlife good in London? Where is good to go?
Soho and Shoreditch are the best if you enjoy lovely atmospheres but also a good bar. If you're into clubs - I've heard south of the river, Elephant and Castle and Clapham do the best but it's not really my thing.
What advice would you give future students heading to London?
Find places that do great deals, download Foursquare, venture into most - if not all - coffee shops and, if you really need to loo and you're near a major museum - they're mostly free entry! The last one is a genuine tip but I'd like to add that you should also look at what's on show!!
