Why did you choose to go to Lodz, Poland?

I come from France and I knew it would be completely different in Poland. And why not Lodz? I heard it was really "students full". It is true.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

Scholarships are a bit complicated for me. I have one from my region and one from Erasmus. There are not enough to live one year if you want to enjoy your Erasmus life (party and trip). But if you choose to stay in the dorms and not go to party several times by week, and maybe not travel every month it could be enough.

What is the student lifestyle like in Lodz?

Many parties. Courses are okay, they are adapted to Erasmus people. Meeting people everyday.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Lodz to other students?

Yes!

What is the food like?

Quite cool, but not better than France of course haha. One point, it is really cheap even if you go to the restaurant and have a great meal.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Lodz?

It didn't cost me. But one thing could be add, often if you choose to live in a flat and not in a dorm, you gonna pay a bit more than a usual Polish person. But not so much.

How much does it cost to live in Lodz?

It doesn't cost too much if you live reasonably. Which is not my case. With parties and trips I use like 500 euros by month (about 2000 zl). But you can live with at least 3/4 of this amount.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

There are language course available, you have to ask at the beginning of the year (they will explain you it during a meeting). It is better for this kind of stuffs to arrive few days before the course starts. You have another option, 2 weeks of 'intensive course' before the beginning of the course (you can ask for that in your registration). You will be with other Erasmus. And yes Polish is really really hard to learn.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Lodz from your city?

Lyon-Lodz... complicated plane or bus (it really depends on the day). But for sure there is no direct line. You can come by Warsaw or Krakow for a flight.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Lodz in the future?

Taxi are cheap. It's a bit better to know the basics of Polish (not every Polish people speak English, and they will like it if you try).
