Why did you choose to go to Lodz, Poland?

Lodz! The first thing that came to my mind when I started my application was international city and in EU, which Lodz represent perfectly with these company investing from all over the world and Erasmus students from all the continents.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

Actually I am a full-time student from Algeria so I paid 2. 500 Euro for my 1st year in MA International Business.

What is the student lifestyle like in Lodz?

Parties, hanging out and travelling to other cities or countries.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Lodz to other students?

Yes, absolutely. The level is quite good and moreover life here is cheap and you find a lot of job opportunities during and even after graduating.

What is the food like?

Tasteless! Sorry, but it is the truth.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Lodz?

Not that much. In dormitory it is about 400 PLN per month which is less than 100 Euro.

How much does it cost to live in Lodz?

They say 250 Euro per month including accommodation, but it depends on your lifestyle because some live with less than this amount.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

The language is similar to Chinese for me. The language courses are available but, unfortunately, I was late for Polish free lessons.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Lodz from your city?

Plane and bus from Annaba, Algeria. I took the train which is more comfortable for my long trip, but buses are good too and economic.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Lodz?

Piotrkowska! Everything happens there.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Lodz?

I prepare at home mostly because it is the most economic way, but I tried Hell's Kitchen: French fries and salads not that bad.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

I haven't had a chance to see much yet because I'm here for two year so I've time!

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Lodz in the future?

If you are coming from a warm place (Africa like me) you will need special boots and winter cloths. Finally, get rid of your administrative duty once you land because it is slow here.
