Magic

Recently I posted an article talking about one of the most famous places for Erasmus students, mostly from the University of Lodz (UL), due to the proximity of its residence to the place students; in particular, the "Hell's Kitchen". Now we have to talk about another place visited by all of us that is really amazing and where everybody can meet each other. Its name is "Magic".

We didn't realise of Magic presence at the beginning of the Erasmus. This is because this place was closed in September and it didn't open till the end of October. That is why the "Hell's" took a quick advantage over being the most visited place of Lumumby, although when "Magic" opened the thing was fairly balanced, to the point that in many sets of Erasmus, was the "Magic" which clearly took the lead and left the "Hell's" a bit empty for too many days.

Despite this place opened its doors after other places, this was not a reason why Lumumby students didn't notice its presence at the campus. Also, people outside the campus wonder to come to these places such as the "Hell's" and "Magic. The boom was quick and hopeful.

One of the keys for this place to be visited by many people every night, is the music being played. Catchy, varied genres of all kinds, you can always hear one of those songs that will make leave your seat and pay attention to what you hear. But this there is not the only thing. We must add fresh, modern appearance, dominated the red color of the walls and bathroom (though I honestly do not remember if the bathroom also has red walls), along with their low beam power, which creates an environment prone to relaxation but also fun (don´t ask me how you create these two sensations that seem opposite, because even I don´t know how).

The third key of the success of this place is the table football. This is completely free. You don't have any excuse for not improving at the end of the year in this fun game. How to hit the ball with power or put him odd effect, or even just the pass from one player to another without escaping the ball from you, are your goals for your nights there in the "Magic", getting the occasional victory if you have a good partner, or if it is not the case and you're starting.

But as I like to make this articles with some criticism, the negative point I see both the "Hell's", but especially in the "Magic" is the poor ventilation they have. It's enough for two or three people smoking enclosure, so surely not just smell it, it will smell, but also come with all your clothes that smell. For those who are not used to smoking and the anti-snuff law in Spain for some years, the return to a country without such a law, it is problem in many cases. Eyes charge you, you start coughing and of course this is not a favour to your lungs. So this measure it's not good for people who do not smoke. Let's continue with the description as "Magic".

Smaller than "Hell's". In this place is easier to not have somewhere to it down. This place makes you feel cozy and talk with other people and establish personal relationships with your Erasmus mates. An advantage of this site compared to the previous I described in another article, is the fact that there are sofas, no one can deny that you feel comfortable sitting on a couch, not the same as when you sit on a hard chair and backrest that most of the time will not even cover the entire back. That's a plus for the "Magic" with respect to "Hell's".

In addition, another novel feature of this pub-bar is the every time available checkerboard and backgammon, so if you're not much of table football and you want to take some other games, it's your time in the "Magic" to demonstrate your skills in this field. If you want to flirt with someone this is not way to do it. Playing chess with that person is not the perfect way to meet new girls, but who knows, you never know who you're talking to. The important thing is that it is possible to take a break in those evenings when you do not want or like to talk to anybody.

But it is time to talk about food, because other good thing is that even if the ambient music and half off and dim lights, the "Magic" is not just a place to talk, drink and play table football; but you can also eat. With less variety than the "Hell's Kitchen", we can also find several dishes that will make you come back again there without a doubt. The prices are slightly cheaper than in "Hell's Kitchen. The typical dish, for example, is the chicken fillet with potatoes and salad. This dish in the "Magic" costs twelve zlotys and in the "Hell's" thirteen and both with all the sauce you want for free. Undoubtedly, you will be equally satisfied with both possibilities, so wherever you go it won't be a bad decision. Moreover, the chips with the sauce will cost you five zlotys (1. 25 euros) in the "Magic", as in the "Hell's", again with a significant amount of potatoes, and hamburger will cost five zlotys.

What I said above is true, the variety of dishes and meals is lower here in the "Magic", although it is also true that it offers a dish that usually students and we love: the pizza, which the "Hell's " don't, and that is appreciated. With a price not much higher than twelve zlotys this pizza can be eaten by two people. So its impossible to not be tempted occasionally.

In addition, the "Magic" also offers Internet. Compared to the residence the speed of the Wi-Fi of Magic´s bar is formidable. So, again you'll also be there the occasional afternoon while you take your coffee, downloading a movie or enjoying a game. It must be said that on this place you don´t have limit on the network, so it doesn't matter the number of people who are enjoying at the moment the connection. If you arrive and you want internet, you will have it. In fact the speed in the "Magic" is greater than the "Hell's", but when many people connected is logical that things change, but as a rule it is still above as a network.

Regarding to football matches, there is every time one. Something negative due to the football broadcast is that many big games are not in their programs schedule and that the television is not is very large. This means that in this aspect the "Hell's Kitchen" will win by a landslide to "Magic", although it should not be our idea to watch a football match in that place.

Note: An Erasmus partner of the residence told me days ago that now in the "Magic" pub there is no longer this freedom to download whatever you want because they have blocked the program "torrent". Thanks to mate for the information.

Conclusion? Being a cheap place, cozy with style, catchy music and free football table, you'll spend many nights there. With cheap and nice food and adding the possibility to take a chess with someone. The "Magic" offers many alternatives that you shouldn't forget neither leave.
