Hell´s Kitchen

I think it´s important talking about this place in the city of Lodz, and as I wrote about it in Spanish, it would be a good idea translate it and say the same (well.... the same not because is impossible, but I will try doing it more or less) in the important language as is the English. As I have said a lot of times, I'm living this year in the residence, in Lumumby street, where we can find many places that make us that living there is a comfortable thing.

One of those places that we can see around the residence is the "Hell's Kitchen". And now im going to describe this well-known site to be able to compare it with respect to another similar site such as "Magic", but this will be in another article.

In this occasion I will talk about the "Hell's Kitchen" (later I will put only "Hell's" to refer about it), and although first thought we can imagine too many things (not only for the name "Hell's Kitchen", but also for the paints out and overall appearance), but is a site with personality but also with a certain elegance (maybe elegance is not the right word).

It was opened since we arrived in September, being "Hell's" an important part of our Erasmus experience, because of there were no places that were competitive against it about eating or have fun. If you are people who don´t like cooking at home or going to the supermarket, spending this precious time for us, the best option is eating out, and having the canteen closed at that time, "hell´s" is nearly the only option.

It´s not very strange imagine that in our first weeks of Erasmus, many students were there almost every day, and not only to have lunch, because in evenings is also crowed due to their low prices of drinks and beers and of course the existence of football table. Football table that although many of those who put a coin to make it work, don´t have much idea, we could see others with high quality to play in this activity. The fact that football only cost two zlotys (fifty cents) with the possibility of playing eleven balls, so, don´t cost too much for many minutes of fun. Moreover, the possibility of seeing a couple playing and finishing with no goals, it means that they have to go under the table.

Although the site is not too big, its size is appropriate for everything is in "family", so people have to be near each other, being a very good thing to promote conversations and meetings of new people. With white walls and large mirrors on the wall opposite the bar, the "hell's" is not only a bar. But they don´t want to get attention, while colour and harmony are mainly features of "hell´s". Everything is geometrically positioned that makes you be relax when you are there. Of course, that as much as the tables and chairs are perfectly placed, when it comes time to watch a football match that tranquility will finish and the adrenaline start to appropiate people. Many parties have been there and we've been enjoying and suffering, because "hell's" offers a pretty big screen in the middle of the wall next to the bar, complemented with another smaller screen just to the left of the entrance at the top. All for increase the audience, and they are right, because buying Spanish league matches, French or Italian you make sure that all of these people of their countries, will have a seat reserved for that day in the "Hell's Kitchen".

Another feature of this site is that you can book a table, logically this is a used option for large events as a birthday, a farewell or just a FC Barcelona - Real Madrid. This allows you to go a bit late though, because your site it will be still there, along with everyone I've caught the table. This is comfort.

But also we can find a good Internet with an enough speed, which although is not very difficult compared to the residence, you can download any movie, game or whatever you can imagine, without too much time wasted. But not everything is good, because this network is limited to a determinate number of users and to enter a new one once is completed, you have to wait another one disconnect. This is a good idea to avoid a bad connection and everyone enjoys a good speed, although the time when it's your turn to suffer the "waiting list" for someone is not very beautiful.

And it's time to talk about the mainly issue of "Hell's", which besides entertainment and quiet talking with others, our main idea when we go to there is eating. What does this site offers us about food? Well, honestly no one should be disappointed with the food, although at first glance we can be somewhat expensive comparated to the average life of Poland and particularly in the city, once you see the dishes and especially testing, will be satisfied.

The variety is wide, because not simply we find the typical chicken or pork steaks, but also offer various pasta dishes that we will delight if we try, and of course soups and salads. Yes, it is true that when a person is sure what he likes (I´m talking about a particular dish) and that dish up in the "Hell's" and is very good, it´s logical that you order it again and again until your limits (maybe all the year). In my case it is the number two in the chart, chicken with potatoes and salad, although clearly it is a simple dish, they put it enough to don´t forget it. Can you get the amount of sauces that we want? Yes! You can take the mayonnaise jar and put whatever you want. And whoever says mayonnaise, says ketchup or any other sauce you ask.

If you want to eat pasta, it will be hardly finishing your plate, because the amount is enormous and is perfectly cooked, so although fairly you start eating and you think you will come soon to end, this dish is deeper than we thought at first and reaches that point: "mmmm I'm full, but it is so good that I can not leave it".

Prices are very attractive with respect to quality and quantity, but of course there are many other cheaper alternatives. A dish is around 13 zlotys, about 3. 25 euros, which is not bad and I repeat again, you will be satisfied and full, so it definitely a good "investment in happiness. " If now you add any drink, then you should add another euro to final price.

Finally, I have to say that the ESN also organize on more than one occasion events, so it would not be a surprise if one day we go there to have dinner quietly, and we find the "Hell's" completely crowed with people singing at a karaoke. Anything can happen on this site.

Note: I have to edit the article because a friend told me that the football table in "Hell's" is now free as in "Magic". Thanks him for the information.

Conclusion? Organized and friendly, suitable for students who look for a good Internet, football or simply mythical dishes, the "hell's" offers so much for very little, so you'll spend there many minutes of your Erasmus if you go to the residence of Students of the University of Łódź.
