Liverpool in a snapshot

Before moving to Liverpool for university I had never visited it (or anywhere north of Nottingham), and bar knowing that it is Steven Gerrard's hometown, I knew practically nothing about it and really had no idea what to expect. From the moment I arrived, I slowly began to fall in love with this city (despite the crazy amount of wind - apparently it is the windiest city in the UK! ), and all it's bizarre but wonderful perks and quirks.

The Scouse accent, without a doubt one of the best accents from the north of England, never fails to make me smile, and that combined with the actual people from Liverpool - who are never anything but friendly (and funny) - is one of the best things about this city. Never have I felt threatened, frightened, or worried, because it seems Scousers really are the friendliest people in the UK (110% friendlier and more welcoming than UK southern folk... ).

Now obviously, for students, Liverpool's nightlife is one of the things that makes it so popular as a city - and for good reason. Yes, it's true... it isn't at all rare to see girls walking about, shopping, brunching and lunching in town with hair rollers in preparation for the night ahead. Not only are there endless options of where you can go on a night out; whether you want cheesy, pop classics (head to PopWorld), indie rock (Heebies is always an awesome night out), or just a grimey, yet strangely addictive and enjoyable night out (the Raz), there really is something for everybody.

Liverpool, the set of Peaky Blinders (hang around long enough and you might just bump into Tom Hardy), the home of The Beatles (and Stevie G), is bursting with culture (nightclubs, fake tans and hair rollers), so whether you enjoy architecture (The Georgian Quarter and the two cathedrals can't be missed), football, or lambanas (yes I know, what even is a lambana?! ).

Add Liverpool to the bucket list.
