What is it like to live in Limassol? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Limassol is like a combination of an exotic yet contemporary city, with old sites and monuments but also a much more improved city. It's easy to get around, almost anywhere you want to go inside the city takes u up to 10 minutes and in much further distances 25-40 minutes and an hour and a bit more to travel to different cities.

What is the student lifestyle like in Limassol?

Clubs and bars are open until early hours of the morning. Reasonably cheap drinks. Clubs vary though. You can have a VIP night at a very expensive and glamorous club, but personally i believe that the best night outs are at alternative bars and clubs. Cypriots love their parties, especially in the sun. The good thing about Cyprus is that it's summer almost every day, and if not, every other day during the winter. If you ever end up in Limassol, yu should pay a visit at Guaba beach bar! It's currently in the top 20 clubs in the world. On the other hand, for my personal preferences, i like the old town better for it's nightlife, since there is a much bigger alternative scene there. You can find a lot of different places to hang out all in 10 minutes walk reach, from where you are.

How much does it cost to live in Limassol?

It doesn't require a lot of money really. As a student you can find apartments that cost from 150-250 euros a month, and if u want a more luxurious apartment with a lot of extras (balconies, living room, extra bathroom, extra storage room extra bedrooms) you can probably find really good opportunities with a budget of 300-350 euros. Food-wise, you can live of with 7 euros a day if you are eating out all the time. Every street has at least a kebab or grill shop, which usually cost 2.50 or 3.00euros per meal. Personally i am a big spender on my personal grocery supplies. so whenever i am back there i usually spent up to 150 euros a month on grocery, but remember I am a big spender.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Limassol? Is there any advice you can give?

not at all.. as i mentioned above rents are quite low like most european countries compared with the UK for example. in regards to find accomodation, you can literally buy a news paper and just call people up. it's the easiest way. or you can walk around old town. at times when a new academic year begins there's a bunch of banners over houses/apartments/flats that say "FOR RENT - TEL: 25....... " and so on.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

just AMAZING! You should probably pay a visit to a Greek Tavern (there are so many around town, probably pick one close to the sea, or just go for an adventure up in the mountains and find one to sit and eat)
They'll serve you amazing food. Mousaka, Koupepia, Greek Mezes. oh god! Greek Mezes it's something you will have to be ready to embrace when you order. There's a huge line of different type of foods, from starters to main courses, with greek-cypriot traditional food coming NON-STOP!

What advice would you give future students heading to Limassol?

Sun cream.. Take a lot of sun cream with you! Also you might think that in times cypriots are arguing or fighting with each other. don't take it so serious. they just love to be loud. they live to be loud.
