What is it like to live in Limassol? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

To start with, the weather in Limassol is amazing. You get temperatures up to 28 degrees celcius during the summer but have amazing beaches with the clearest of waters to cool yourself down. The city is in my opinion the most vibrant on the island with hundreds of bars and night clubs for every taste on the sea front. You also get to see the old town which just lets you in the culture of Cyprus, with coffee shops on every corner on paved little streets. Food is absolutely delicious, the traditional 'tavernas' offer the best of the Mediterranean flavours and are bound to make you go back for more.
I highly recommend Limassol, whether it is only for a short holiday or a longer visit!

What is the student lifestyle like in Limassol?

The student lifestyle in Limassol is amazing! It can be really cosy during the winter and very vibrant during the summer, although I do feel is like being on vacation all year round. There are so many places to visit: from archaeological sites to very lively nightlife.

How much does it cost to live in Limassol?

In my opinion Limassol is fairly expensive.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Limassol? Is there any advice you can give?

I don't think it is difficult to find accommodation. This is usually advertised in local newspapers (you can get them in english as well) or online.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

The food is absolutely fantastic. Best cuisine I have ever had! I would definitely recommend a meat meze, souvla, kleftiko and mousaka. And even though Cypriots are all about meat, in Limassol especially, you can find the best fish taverns in the Mediterranean. They catch fresh fish and sell it on the same day.

What places would you recommend visiting in Limassol?

For students I would definitely recommend Saripolou Street in the old part of the town where all the bars are located. I would also recommend Kastro (which literally means Castle) which is in the old town as well and there you find all the coffee shops and the best of restaurants. And of course the tourist area where all the hotels, clubs and bars are.

Is it good to eat out in Limassol? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Little plates is very highly recommended. Rodi who is the owener and the chef uses only cypriot ingredients but cooks with a twist that is bound to impress. You can find his website online with pictures and his menu.
Also for something more traditional I would recommend Forsos Tavern. It is one of the best in the island.
Also if you are in the mood for fish and you fancy sitting by the sea, I would recommend Fat Fish.

Is the nightlife good in Limassol? Where is good to go?

One of the best nightclubs in the island is Breeze club and it is right by the sea.
Guaba is definitely a place you want to visit whilst in Cyprus. It has been voted the 15th best club in the world. However is like one you have never seen before. It is located right on the beach, everyone is wearing their swimming suits and the best DJ's from all around the world come to perform every Sunday. Not to be missed. Again you can find all of this information online.

What advice would you give future students heading to Limassol?

Just enjoy the weather, feast on the food and have the time of your life on this magical island.
