I would absolutely recommend all the parks of Leipzig, like Clara-Zetkin or Johanna-Park. Also the lakes in the South part are quite beautiful. There are sandy beaches and it feels a bit like being on holiday (Cospudener See). A cultural attraction is for example the 'Völkerschlachtdenkmal' and also the whole city center, with the Thomas Church, where Johann Sebastian Bach has worked or the old and new townhall.

Is it good to eat out in Leipzig? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

There are many restaurants all around the city. The ones in the centre are a bit more expensive and touristical, like the 'Auerbachskeller', where famous Goethe has written his 'Faust'. What I like best is a Student Bar, where you can sit outside in the summer, having a beer and eating the homemade burgers. It's called 'Substanz' and is located in the East.

Is the nightlife good in Leipzig? Where is good to go?

There are many clubs in Leipzig. Some are more for guys who like to dress up, like L1 or SkyClub, but most are more for the ones who like to go out as they are, which is very common in Leipzig. The most famous disco is called 'Moritzbastei', which is partly underground and quite nice. In the West part, there are more alternative clubs, like Täubchenthal or Westwerk. The one I like most is 'Elsterartig'.

What advice would you give future students heading to Leipzig?

Try not to stay with people from your country or Erasmus students all the time. It's better to connect with locals, because they know the special places in the city.
