My scholarship is for 3 months.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Leiden to other students?
of course!
What is the food like?
you can find whatever you desire! There are big supermarket where the is food from all over the world (Albert Hein)
Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Leiden?
yes a bit...but I was licky: a found a room before leaving my city in Italy. I found it through the facebook groups.
How much does it cost to live in Leiden?
The rent for a private room is usually around 350/550euro. The other costs depend on you.
Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?
Yes. All the European Universities are similar.Nothing difficult. But you need to have a good command of English. If you also know some Dutch words is even better.
What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Leiden from your city?
By plane with low cost airlines like Ryanair or Transavia.
What good cultural sites are there to visit?
Lots of Museums. There is a Visitor Centre just in front the Train Station (Leiden Central). You will find all kind of information just ask to the very kind employee.
Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Leiden in the future?
It would be very helpful to have a bike, especially when the weather is getting cold.
