Very nice architecture (a bit like a small version of Amsterdam) lots of museums and has been named cultural capital of the Netherlands 2016. Leading expert on water technology.
What is the student lifestyle like in Leeuwarden?
Some pubs, bars and clubs for a fun evening (Groningen en Utrecht are the best).
How much does it cost to live in Leeuwarden?
Student rooms for around 250-300 per month.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Leeuwarden? Is there any advice you can give?
No quite doable.
Try Facebook and on the web page kamernet.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
Some very nice places to eat like Paddy O'ryan (irish pub).
What places would you recommend visiting in Leeuwarden?
Oldehove, Fries museum, prinse tuin (prince garden), shopping street (for architecture), maybe catch a football game.
Is it good to eat out in Leeuwarden? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
Paddy o ryan (irish), tao (japanese), jasmin garden (asian buffet).
Is the nightlife good in Leeuwarden? Where is good to go?
Pretty decent nightlife, try doelestraat or one of the clubs (would advise going on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, cause on Friday and Saturday bit more aggressive atmosphere (people from the countryside don't mix that well with the city folks)).
What advice would you give future students heading to Leeuwarden?
Bring a raincoat if not in summer.
