Leeds Castle - a Time Travel
If you ever want to go see a medieval castle surrounded by water and well-trimmed gardens, Leeds Castle in Kent is a great option! Entering the property, you see a nicely decorated landscape with artificial lakes ... typical of an English garden! You can already see the blocky castle from a distance!
Some walls surround a small garden with stones and bushes, like an enshrined paradise ... you can imagine lords and ladies walking there!
Walking towards the castle, our tour guide explained the long history of the sturdy, yet beautiful building.
Inside the castle, we saw historical arms like swords, polearms, shields, some axes and knight's armour. They also had a huge wine cellar and a library ... knowing how to live well! The castle is connected with important persons such as King Henry VIII (with his six wives and own church denomination), Queen Elisabeth (the longest-reigning female monarch), Queen Mary (the notorious Catholic outsider on the English throne), and King Edward VI (see below).
The halls were white and spacey with lots of daylight, you could get an idea of the luxurious lifestyle of monarchs residing here ... and now it is accessible to everyone!
Lastly: Don't forget to try out the huge maze and the magical underground grotto!
After visiting Leeds Castle, we went to London ... stay tuned!
