Here it strikes again.
Yep.
Your PESD (Post-Erasmus Stress Disorder) hits again, and you end up roaming around streets of Hull longing that feeling you had last year. But here it doesn’t feel quite like Sevilla. To be honest, not even close.
Post-Erasmus stress disorder is brutal. It can hit you anytime and anywhere. One second you’re admiring the Minster in York, then in a blink of an eye, you miss the Sagrada Familia from Barcelona. It leaves you restless and uncertain. PESD shuts your mouth even in the Elland Road in Leeds, exactly the moment you think the whites might be back in Premier League. It brings the memory of los merengues and the triumphant march across Plaza de Cibeles in Madrid right after they won la liga and Champions League in the same year. Your Erasmus Year.
Oh boy PESD might be hard, might be tough, might be daunting, but it is not without a remedy. As a wise woman of 2000s proved there is one way to fight your sorrows. Eat.
Find your inner Bridget Jones and fight your lows with food, but go for something higher notch than ice cream in front of TV. Your Erasmus deserves better. PESD is no joke, especially after you spend your time in Spain. There are certain names, textures and smells that create this unforgettable ambiente. And there is this one type of food that instantly takes you back to your time in Iberian Peninsula- tapas.
Ambiente Tapas - you guessed it. This is your ally. This is where you win the battle against PESD. Simply because it is exactly like you. It is not a Spanish restaurant, the same as you’re not technically español. But Spain left a burning imprint on you and on these restaurants and became an integral part of your characters, bringing the best in Spain to you. Here the Spanish inspired tapas blended with a Yorkshire twist will activate each of your senses and bring back the memories of all those moments that are so dear to you.
Boquerones will remind you of that one warm evening in Malaga, calamares will take you back to the red Plaza Mayor in Madrid. You will realise that the last time you had patatas bravas was in Valencia, right after las Fallas burned your eyes. The octopus will teleport you once again to Santiago de Compostela where the pilgrims’ chatter floats over its narrow streets.
Then it’ll strike you how loud you are sitting in one of the booths with a constant chinwag. This will be your fatal blow against the PESD. You will not stop talking about your Erasmus, places you’ve seen, people you met and the food… the food that tastes with happiness and joy. Oh, of course you’ll be cringy, loud and excessive when convincing everyone around the table how amazing your Erasmus was. Whatever. There is no shame in being overjoyed when you fought the last trace of the Post-Erasmus Stress Disorder flushing it with a whole jug of sangria.
After all, this is one of the many reasons you came to Ambiente Tapas.
