What is it like to live in Lausanne? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Lausanne is a small town full of resources that you have to learn to appreciate. It might seem boring, expensive and unlively at first, but when you have met people and you have a group of friends, it can become a really enjoyable place. The life quality is amazing, apartments are clean and beautiful (even if expensive..) and more importantly, the landscapes are stunning. Cool: You can swim in the lake during summer and ski in the mountains in winter. Also, there are people from everywhere, it is very eclectic and it is rare to meet a real swiss person! Communities are strong and everyone lives in peace together.

What is the student lifestyle like in Lausanne?

Expensive... But there is a cool nightlife and surprisingly a lot of bars and clubs. You can honestly go out from monday to saturday (sunday everything is closed though). Universities are cool too, UNIL and EPFL have great places to study or gather around a coffee, and the rolex center is great.

How much does it cost to live in Lausanne?

Rent: 400 (very cheap, and rare) to 1300 (very expensive)
For everything else I think you need at least 700 CHF/month to live properly

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Lausanne? Is there any advice you can give?

It is difficult because you need a Swiss warrant, so if you are not Swiss or dont know anyone from there, the rent will be even more expensive.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

The food is great, you eat well almost everywhere. Fondue is obviously a great dish for winter and Meringue à la double crème de Gruyère is a must try!
