How did you find living in La Rochelle? Do you recommend it? How is the city?

It's a very beautiful city: to leave class and see the sea and boats... It's really appreciable. Then, there really is everything for the students: a library, a sports hall, transport, nights out, etc. I strongly recommend it!

How is student life in La Rochelle?

There is a very good atmosphere, especially on Fridays of course. Everyone goes out and meets up in the bars or clubs. It's very pleasant!

How are the living costs in La Rochelle?

The city is rather costly all the same...

Is it hard to find accommodation in La Rochelle? Have you got any advice to give?

Yes, it is rather difficult, especially to find student accommodation. There are a lot of applications so it's better to get one in advance.

How is the food in the city? What are your favourite dishes?

The food is very good, especially in the restaurants and crêperies (the crêpes are really delicious).

What places do you recommend seeing in La Rochelle?

There are quite a lot of things to see in La Rochelle. The port is the first thing to see! Of course, there are the beaches (the Minimes, the Concurrence, Chef de Baie), the city centre with the big clock and the town hall etc. The robot museum is nice to see too.

And to eat in La Rochelle? Can you tell us your favourite places?

I like the Crêperie du Vieux Port a lot (rue Quai Louis Durant), and the restaurant Wallilabou Bay; you eat in a pirate decoration and the food is delicious!

What places do you recommend to go out in La Rochelle?

Going round all the bars is a must! The most popular are Le Dock, La Terrassee and Les Mauvais Garçons. In terms of clubs, if you like electronic music le Black Out is made for you. However if you prefer a variety, it's better to go to White Rabbit or to l'Oxford.

What advice do you want to give to future Erasmus students in La Rochelle?

Take the time to visit it and spend time outdoors. The environment is really pleasant. If you want to do sport, don't hesitate to go to S. U. A. P. S. There are a great number of sports proposed for just 20 euros for the year; it's very much worth it.

Finally, enjoy your experience to the maximum!
