Merdaka square, the heart of KL
I've been on this blog for long enough for you guys to know I'm obsessed with energies and vibes; and call me crazy but I feel like I can actually feel the different energies I receive from people and certain places. That being said this little place in Kuala Lumpur, holds a special place in my heart; the positive energy I get from here warms me up from the inside.
(Merdaka square)
This place is nowhere but Merdaka square, now let’s see what’s there even in this square besides a wonderfully breathtaking view and square. This square and it’s surroundings are considered one of KL’s most important land marks, I would say the second most important after Petronas Twin Towers. This square is basically the independence square and the independence parade takes place here every year. As we all know, or now you would know, Malaysia gained independence in 1957 and now on Malaysia day and Merdaka day, the independence parades take place here.

Surrounding the square there are certain important structures, one being the royal Selangor club and the Sultan Abdul Samad building. The Sutlan Abdul Samad building was what made me fall in love in the first place. The place is beyond majestic, specially at night when all the lights hit the building, it is so dreamy. The history of the building goes back to the British colonial times, they held their government offices there, it was actually built in the late 18 th century.
But enough of text book facts, let’s see what’s there to do. There was a time I used to go to that place, pretty much all the time, because the national library is there. That place is so peaceful that I needed various coffees to just keep me going and prevent me from going to sleep. You guys can take a look inside the library, although it's not a very touristic spot.

Back to Sultan Abdul Samad building, the building is wildly photographed by tourists, there hasn’t been a time when I passed the place and people weren’t posing in front of it. I mean can you blame them? Just see how beautiful.

Merdaka Square is easily accessible, the thing about KL’s hot spots is that they all have great localizations and are accessible by public transport. To get to Merdaka square you can get on the Kelana Jaya line LRT, and get off in Masjid Jamek, there is about a 5 minute walk to the place; you can either ask around or use Google maps to get there as easily as possible.
Now once there, don’t forget to be complete tourist and take a picture in front of the I love KL sign, that is a must for every Kuala Lumpur tourist, I even have one, for when I first visited Malaysia when I was 12. So don’t forget rituals like this.
I hope you enjoy this short piece, I try to make my pieces as short as possible, because let’s be honest everyone gets bored easily, so I'm trying to keep it as interesting as possible.
Cheers.
