Party in Cracovia

I don't know how I have lasted so much to write this post. Maybe because I consider so evident that everyone knew about this; or maybe because, although you didn't know it, it will be the first thing you learn when you arrive. Anyway, I'm going to write it, because it is something that has to be recorded on paper -or in pixels-.

Krakow is a truly university city: we have a whole district, some bus stops, almost all food locations have discounts for students, etc. And, of course, there are lots of bars and clubs. If you go walking around the city centre at any hour after 7 PM, you will find lots of women and men giving out leaflets, discounts, etc., of bars and locals - by the way, this form of advertising seems to me to be extremely ineffective and environmentally unfriendly.

In Krakow there are two groups of clubs, that are associated and offer discounts depending on the day of the week. Firstly, we have the Kakao group; the Kakao card is free and you can obtain discounts and free entrance in different discos each day of the week with it. We have also the MyErasmus card, that is also free and offer exactly the same as the first but in different places. Personally, I go more often to the Kakao places, probably because they are cheaper (in discounts days, the beer costs 3 zl and the wardrobe 1 zl) and the music is more latin - on Mondays Goraczka and on Tuesdays Afera, are my favourites- because it is where reggaeton and spanish music in general prevail. There are as well Baccarat and Coco, that are a Little more expensive and more strict with the dress code. I haven't gone so much to the locals of MyErasmusCard, but I know that the music here is very much electronic. Another important thing to mention is that in the Kakao locals, most of the times you won have to pay the entrance, even if you do not have the Kakao card -but you wouldn't have the discounts inside- while in the MyErasmus locals you would have to pay for it if you do not have their card.

This separation of the clubs has make an evident polarisation between the erasmus students in the city. Whereas for me it is evident that Mondays are for Gorackzka, some of my friends have never been here -one of my goals for this coming semester is to go to alternative locals. Another thing that influence the life of the erasmus students in Krakow is the calendar that Kakao and MyErasmus have. For example, the days I go out are usually Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, whereas in the weekend I prefer mainly to do truism or to stay at home. Because of this you finally meet the same people in all bars -a thing that we should avoid if we don't want to be caught in the monotony-.

Another characteristic of our night life? Clubs know what they have... Spaniards and people from South America. So they are always organising Spanish, Colombians, Brasil, etc., parties... And all of them are similar - Spanish music and not much variety of people-, but I love them and if you are here you should go to some of them.

Maybe my erasmus life isn't so interesting, but I am sure that it sums up quite well what the majority of erasmus students (at least those like me) do here. Maybe you would be the one who will change it.
