What is it like to live in Kathmandu? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Kathmandu is the capital city of Kathmandu and is also known as the "City Of Temples". It is a valley and is a moderate zone. The climate is moderate. It can get up to 32 degrees in the summer and can drop to -2 degrees in the winter. However, it doesn't snow here. This is a beautiful city which is modern as well as traditional in different areas.

What is the student lifestyle like in Kathmandu?

Students can live nicely in Kathmandu. However, foreigners do not come here to study. The only place where we could get an excellent quality education is the Teaching Hospital which teaches Medicine. But, the students can afford the studies and the rent.

How much does it cost to live in Kathmandu?

The cost of living in Kathmandu is less compared to most of the cities in Europe and US. A nice room could cost you around 60 Euros per month. If you want to rent a flat with four rooms then it will cost you about 100 Euros in a normal place and about 300-350 Euros in a standard flat.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Kathmandu? Is there any advice you can give?

No, it is not that difficult to find accommodation in Kathmandu. The best way to find a room is to go from house to house and talk about rooms. You could find it in a few tries. You could even look in the newspaper for rooms.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

The food we , Nepalese, regularly eat is Rice, Daal(Cereal) , Vegetables and Pickles. My favorite dishes are Rice, Mutton and Momo. But, you can find every cuisine if you roam around the city.

What places would you recommend visiting in Kathmandu?

There are many places to visit in Kathmandu.
1. Pashupatinath Temple.
2. Thamel
3. Hanuman dhoka(Kathmandu Durbar Square)
4. Patan Durbar Square.
5. Bhaktapur Durbar Square.
6. Narayanhiti Musuem.
7. Kakani.
8. Nagarkot.

Is it good to eat out in Kathmandu? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Yes, it can be a great choice to eat out in Kathmandu. You can find excellent hotels and restaurant in Thamel and Newroad areas. You can get pretty much every cuisine you want to eat.

Is the nightlife good in Kathmandu? Where is good to go?

The nightlife is pretty much dull in most of the areas in Kathmandu. But , we can go to Thamel and New Road where night life is splendid.

What advice would you give future students heading to Kathmandu?

You can get room without much painstaking work. The living cost is low but it is a splendid place to live in.
