What is it like to live in Kathmandu? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

It is a small city in a developing country so it is not that well developed but it provides a good experience . It is a city with a modern life that mixes well with traditional customs.

What is the student lifestyle like in Kathmandu?

Student lifestyle is quite well. The universities are well located and it is fun.

How much does it cost to live in Kathmandu?

Kathmandu is a fairly cheap city. The areas like Thamel and Durbarmarg are costly as compared to other areas of kathmandu but on international basis they are very cheap.

Accommodations are available for less than $150 per month and food is also very cheap.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Kathmandu? Is there any advice you can give?

Finding accommodation is very easy. It will be better if you search in areas except Thamel and Durbarmarg as it will be cheaper. Also the city is easy to travel within.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Nepalese food in itself is very good but you can easily find all international cuisines if you look around.

All of this to get a taste of the traditional lifestyle.

Is it good to eat out in Kathmandu? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

As I have mentioned earlier all international cuisines are available. But I highly recommend you to try the newari and thakali cuisine as they're very good.

Is the nightlife good in Kathmandu? Where is good to go?

The nightlife is average as there are not many places to go. It is a traditional city that is moving towards modern life so the night life is not that well developed.

The dance clubs and bars in the areas like Thamel, Jhamel, Basantapur etc is good to go.

What advice would you give future students heading to Kathmandu?

Be free to ask around as the people are super friendly and helpful. But mind your possessions.
