Its fun, exploring, learning, etc. Yes of course.
The city is the Uganda's capital city, business center, Makerere University 1 st ranked University in Uganda, East Africa & 3rd best in Africa.
Though populated but its so green, connected to other districts using the road transport. It has a direct connection to the major National Airport, Kampala Entebbe Express Highway.
It hosts many government ministries, Embassies and so many more
What is the student lifestyle like in Kampala?
Both academia and leisure are part of a student life style in Kampala.
How much does it cost to live in Kampala?
Relatively cheap. Monthly accommodation depends on your location.
Hostels on a shared flat are relatively expensive as compared to University hostels. Its a lot indeed!
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Kampala? Is there any advice you can give?
Accommodation is so easy to find in Kampala. University & private Hostels, Apartments, Rentals, Homes, both shared and private.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
Matooke, Yams, Pumpkin, Sweet Potatoes, Rice and other local foods are so common served with Fish, Meat, Groundnuts, Mushroom, Greens among others. Other special meals basing on cultures are found in hotels and big restaurants.
What places would you recommend visiting in Kampala?
The Kasubi Royal Tombs, The Buganda Kingdom's administrative Palace Bulange Mengo, The Mandela National Stadium, The Uganda Martyr's Shrine Namugongo, The Uganda Museum Bukoto, Lake Victoria shores among others
Is it good to eat out in Kampala? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
Hotel Africana, Cafe Javas, Shakazulu Restaurant etc
Is the nightlife good in Kampala? Where is good to go?
Many good places. Mostly on Tuesday , Wednesday, Friday+ Weekend.
Club obligatto & Sabrinas pub with Afrigo Band, Comedy night with commedy files, The spot light "Akandolindoli", The Ebonies at Theatre Labonita among others
Clubs are many Silk, Ambiance, Nyondo, X5, Deposh etc
What advice would you give future students heading to Kampala?
Expect fun, exploring, new dishes, welcoming community
Expect some challenge with traffic jam in the evening or else live a few kilometers away from the university
The cost of living is the so favorable.
