What is it like to live in Jaipur? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Jaipur is not about malls, or pubs and lounges, although there are loads of them, and the trend is pretty much existent too. It is about amazing scenic beauties, about rides, about those historic places on the mountains and hills, the lakes where the youth of the city hangs out. In current time, the Jaipur city can be the most loving city in India.

What is the student lifestyle like in Jaipur?

Jaipur is an amazing city for students, pretty lively. Life for a student is too good. Although there aren't any such international level eductational institutes. You won't get distracted easily unless you decide to get distract yourself. People in Jaipur are awesome. They are not mean and can help you during any problem. They wont judge you if you are from different states or countries. Jaipur has various place to Hangout and shopping.

How much does it cost to live in Jaipur?

India is cheap to travel and live and Jaipur is no exception. Travel in Jaipur is often going to be by private rickshaw, so from a financial perspective try to travel with friend rather than solo. You can expect to spend around $20 per day on a comfortable budget (cheaper is also possible). Double rooms run from around $15, rickshaw trips within the city around wouldn't cost more than $1.5, and food $1 or $2 per meal, beer $1.5. Add in less than $1 or $2 you can visit a number of the tourist sites in Jaipur.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Jaipur? Is there any advice you can give?

Jaipur is full of students (lots of!!), especially engineering, so it might be a bit difficult to find acccommodation, you need to roam a lot. But I would suggest to contact someone in Jaipur whom you know and him/her to enquire about the avalability of accommodation altleast 15-20 days prior to your visit.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Jaipur is known for it's own specialities in food. It is a place where you get thousands of food dishes and few amazing places serving the best of them in the city. If you are vegetarian, welcome to the foodie's paradise. You can take your pick out of traditional rajasthani daal baati churma, chat and street food, 5 star restaurants, theme restaurants like Chokhi Dhani. If you are non-vegetarian, you can take your pick of the great mughlai food Jaipur has to offer

Is the nightlife good in Jaipur? Where is good to go?

This the point where Jaipur lags behind other metro cities in India like Delhi and Mumbai.

What advice would you give future students heading to Jaipur?

Jaipur is not known for international standard education (although it is improving its status in last couple of years) so I wouldn't recommend Jaipur as a place to study, but if you just want to explore, or you are on vacation, then it is a must visit place in the whole country. You'll love it. But before arriving in Jaipur please checkout wheather as both summer (from march to september) and winter (december to feb) are extreme, especially summer, they are hot as hell. Best time to visit Jaipur is October and November you will enjoy the festive season.
