İzmir is a lovely cite to live. You must live in İzmir. First of all, it is a safe and lively place. There are a lot of young people. There are a lot of warm and friendly people. When you ask a thing, they try to help very much. There is a little bit theft. You can go out at night easily.

What is the student lifestyle like in Izmir?

There are a lot of student in İzmir. There are a lot of foreign students. The student lifesyle in izmir is very moving. There are a lot of shopping centers, bars, restaurants, nightclubs, cinemas, stores etc. There are a lot of campaigns intended to students for eating, cinema etc.

How much does it cost to live in Izmir?

As Turkish Money, 1500-2000 Turkish lira. As a Euro or Dollar 500-600. Generally İzmir is not expensive city. Price is depend on your choices for eating, shopping etc.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Izmir? Is there any advice you can give?

No, there are a lot of rent homes for students especially near to the universities. You can get help from your Turkish University International department.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Turkish foods are very delicious. You absolutely should taste it. You can go cafes or restaurants where doing home cooking. I m sure that you like Turkish Foods. For example; appetizers, fish, raki, kumru Kebab, döner, baklava, nargile

Alsancak, Kordon, Gül Street, Asansör, Karşıyaka, Bostanlı, Güzelyalı, Konak, Clock Tower, Agora & Forum shopping centers, night clubs &taverns in Alsancak.

Yes. There are a lot of restaurants, cafes, taverns, bars. For example; Alsancak (Alin's, Bisquette, Highway Kordon Lounge, %100 rest more, Blanc, Plaza, The House Cafe, Peximet, Reyhan-Sevinc Patisserie), In Güzelyalı (Reci's, Peximet, Kumrucu İzzet), In Balçova (Agora shopping center, schlotzsky's, Bay döner, Çifte kumrular plus), In Bornova (KüçükPark, Forum Bornova)

Is the nightlife good in Izmir? Where is good to go?

Yes. Alsancak, Gazi Kadınlar Street, Karşıyaka, Bostanlı, Levent Marina. The nightclubs' names are Tren, Öküz, Josephine, Jackson's, Rox Club, 1040 Mavişehir, Rich & Rich, Sisim Meyhane, Cece Brasserie. In summer time absolutely Çeşme :) The clubs names are Marrakech, Sole Mare, Kafepi, Paparazzi, Tektekçi, Trenport, Jackson's port, Zilly pera, Alaçatı, Ilıca. Others places in summertime; Urla, Seferihisar, Kuşadası, Mordoğan

What advice would you give future students heading to Izmir?

I m sure that you will have a fun in İzmir. You can relax in İzmir. You should learnd the transportation system. You should make a lof of friends. İzmir's people are very friendly and helpful. Don't hesitate to communicate If you have a problem or question. Even ıf they dont speak English, they are directed to someone else WHO know English and can help to you.
