What is it like to live in Izmir? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Izmir is the best city to live in Turkey. People are friendly, nice activities all the time and safe.

What is the student lifestyle like in Izmir?

very good! You like the people not the city, but if there is some activities with the people then that city is the best! If you study in Ege University you can find 24 hours bus drive from Alsancak(where people go to party) to Bornova(Ege University).

How much does it cost to live in Izmir?

If your are coming from Europe it is so cheap for you! 500 Euro will be average. Included hosting. It depends on you. At least you need 450-500 Euro for being comfortable.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Izmir? Is there any advice you can give?

There are some groups in facebook you can find some room easily. Also too many dormitories. I don't think it is difficult.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Culture of Izmir mostly hace vegetables with olive oil and very delicious! You should drink Turkish traditional drink "Raki" which is alcohol and eat some special food with it next to seaside in Alsancak. Also all Turkish food are amazing you should try.

What places would you recommend visiting in Izmir?

In Izmir, very nice beaches and historical places like Ephesus.

Is it good to eat out in Izmir? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

People mostly eat out in Izmir. You can find cheap, average and expensive places in one spot. I can't say anything special you should try it!

Is the nightlife good in Izmir? Where is good to go?

Alsancak and Bostanlı you can find parties and pubs. In Bostanli there are some clubs to dance with very good sights. In Alsancak(very close to Bornova) also you can find places to dance, to drink also live music.

What advice would you give future students heading to Izmir?

Don't be afraid of trying anything. Eat, party, and socialize as much as you can!
