Erice Castle 2
The ascension to the castle was difficult as it was very steep and they had used winding paths to hinder enemies in reachign the castle. Meanwhile, the main tower throned over us.
Looking down the slopes, you could see some monasteries and watchtowers (?).
The view from the top was the highest point we arrived at, I guess (apart from the Etna). A very good position for seeing incoming hordes and eventual fires!
Again, we had a great view over the lagoon ... compare this point of view to the other ones I showed you before! This is the maximum!
Our next stop would be Segesta, an ancient temple site ...
