What are the downsides of traveling to Iran

Well yesterday I wrote my piece on why should one travel to Iran, and it is only fair if you guys have all the facts all true and straightened out so you can make a decision about traveling to Iran. Although I think the advantages outweigh the disadvantages in a heartbeat. I mean literally I have been thinking for hours to come up with valid points as to what are the disadvantages, so here I go.

1) Language barrier

Not everyone in Iran knows how to speak English, actually the majority of the population aren’t fluent in English, so it might prove to be a little difficult asking for help from the locals; or trying to find your way around. I personally don’t think it has a huge effect though, since our good friend internet will help us in any way possible and I'm sure no one is gonna have a bad time in Iran because of that. There are a lot of people that do speak English and will be happy to help you guys without a doubt. Plus there’s always me, a talking virtual tour guide to Iran. I'm serious though, doesn’t matter how many years from now, I’ll still reply if someone asks me for help.

2) Governmental regulations

If there is one problem Iran has as a touristic destination is this. If it wasn’t for the governmental regulations, Iran’s tourism industry would have peaked so much, without a doubt, it would have become the hottest spot of the middle east. but it’s not. First of all because there were a lot of sanctions imposed on Iran which made traveling to it harder but the second reason would certainly be this.

The governmental regulations include the wearing of the headscarf and appropriate clothing for women, which is of course bothersome for those who don’t really want to do that, I'm not gonna deny the facts. Then there is the no alcohol thing which is a bummer for youngsters adapted to that way of life. There aren’t night clubs and discos either so there’s that. I know that is a lot of weird stuff to take in, but Iran has it’s own uniqueness, one that isn’t really dependent on the presence of night clubs.

This is to be continued, If I come up with more points.

Cheers
