If you remeber from the last posts I promised that I'll write a special one, about the place in which I love to eat here in Ioannina.

It was a lovely sunny day outside, I was with my girls in the city, shopping and having a nice afternoon. Then we passed this place and we saw that it's so full and crowded. One of my friends she said that this place is really nice and that we should try it also. It was lunch time so we said why not. We waited around 5 minutes for a table outside and meanwhile I was watching the way they are making the food. I was soo hungry and the food looked delicious. I also saw on the window that this place was awarded by Trip Advisor with 4. 5 stars. As you can see below, this is how the place looks like, the entrance. The name of the restaurant is Metsovitiki Folia.

This place is close to the Castle of Ioannina, you just need to cross the road and you are next to the castle.

After five minutes we went inside to our table and we said that if Trip Advisor said almost five stars, then the food must be great. Also from the fact that the place was full. Keep in mind this when you are going in a new city and you find a place, check if it's full or checked it on trip advisor, you'll get more reviews. This is the second best restaurant to eat in Ioannina according to Trip Advisior.

We ordered food, the menu is writen on a boar d( I'm sorry I didn't take a photo, maybe next time) and you can choose from starters to salads to kontosouvli( what's this? you'll see in a minute) and more others.

The place was crowded as I said, even though it was also a place upstairs, we stayed in a corner downstairs and it was cozy. The place is decorated with traditional decorations from Greece, looks like an old place but really nice.

Here is photo of the inside of the place. As you can see the deocrations are traditional from old times and I like this, they are trying to keep the spirit of old Greece alive. I appreciate this kind of places, typical and old, when everybody is trying to make a place so new and modern. I love modern but also old and typical.

We ordered food and they were so friendly and helpful and the food came after 20 minutes maybe or less. We just enjoyed our time while the food was preparing.

And... the food! :

It looks good but it tastes even better. So what we ordered was : kontosouvli chicken with fries or salad ( tomatoes and cucumber), the chicken was so perfect juicy and well done made with herbs and oil. It was so good, then we had tzatziki, really good and bread with some herbs and greek salad. It was the best lunch in a long time. I enjoyed every bite. From that day on we decided that we are going to come here weekly.

The prices are quite cheap for this tradtional meat and the sides, the food is fresh and tasty. For kontosouvli chicken the price is 6, 5 euro. It's a really good price for the food the offer, I had food in other places too but this place is the best. For tzatziki we paid 3 euros. Really tasty and for the salad I don't remeber but should be somewhere around 5 euros.

If you want to take a closer look, here it is, even now when I look I feel like eating it, hahaha! with lemon is even better. I like that the potatoes are from real potatoes and freshly fried not like the frozen ones. You can feel the difference, good food makes one!

We ate the food and then already thinking about the next week and when our family and friends will come in Ioannina, we will take them here for sure. Everything was perfect, the place was nice, the stuff was smiling and friendly, food was delicious and the area is in the city centre, close to the castle and the lake.

We came again, as promised and this time we reserved a table before, because this place is full all the time so we wanted to make sure that we have it for lunch time.

You can go there and reserve it or call the place and they'll be more then happy to reserve it for you.

So this time I decided to go for kontosouvli but the sheep one. I don't eat usually sheep often, maybe one a year, but I wanted to try it because I knew that they have good food. So I ordered it and it was of course delicious for sheep meat, very well cook.

We also orderd two types of cheese, one ( the left side) was baked feta cheese and the other one was a combination of few cheeses also baked. Really really tasty, I'll will order this combination of cheeses for sure again. It melted in my mouth, so soft and yummy. Oh I wish I have it now, haha. My friends also loved the place and the food, they say that will come again. The second time we went there, the staff already knew us, we were so excited the first time and told them that everything was so great and will come again with friends and family.

I can say that I likes the sheep, but more I love the chicken, maybe because I'm used to eating chicken weekly than the sheep. But both were great, they also have pork meat. So whatever is your favourite meat I guess all of them are very good.

But next time I'll get again the chicken, more juicy and with herbs, my style of how the meat should be like. This time we stayed outiside, the weather was lovely, 24 degrees and the place was so full, really. People waited for 20 minutes or more to get a table, because no table was free and they had more then 20 tables. Everybody knew that this place is incredible good and also really good prices.

I'll go here again and again and try all the cheeses and starters and yeah, keep on eating here.

I highly recommend this place to come and eat. You'll love this place, for sure.

Even if you are a vegetarian you can have really good stuff like fresh greek salad, starters, different cheeses and much more.
