Ifrane, Morocco

Ifrane is a town in northern Morocco, 65 km from Fès and 160 km from Taza. The town was built amongst the Middle Atlas mountains and it draws many Moroccan tourists in winter and summer alike. It is a favourite destination amongst mountain lovers and people who enjoy caving, walking, hiking and skiing.

Life in Ifrane

Life is usually very calm in this town (one of the main reasons why people choose to visit this paradise), the locals are humble and kind, and the town itself is fancy and clean. Winter in Ifrane sees freezing temperatures, dropping to -5 degrees. The summer weather is perfect, reaching 30 degrees. Ifrane was named the second cleanest town in the world, after Calagry in Canada.

Transport

To get to Ifrane you must take a Grand Taxi or a coach from Fès which will cost at least 3 euros. Ifrane itself is a small town so it doesn't have its own internal transport system. But trust me, you will love walking between the town's stunning gardens.

Accommodation

The price of hotels in Ifrane ranges between 15 and 200 euros per night per person, depending on the neighbourhood. There are also houses and apartments to rent, the lowest price is around 30 euros per night. The cost of accommodation will depend on its proximity to the town centre.

Nature

Due to its position among the Atlas mountains, Ifrane has a very rich natural environment. At base of the mountains you can find plenty of incredible places that I recommend visiting. The most popular mountain to visit is the Michlifen mountain, you will find a ski resort popular among amateur skiers.
