What is it like to live in Iasi? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

In general, Iasi is a beautiful city. As a student in need of information, i would be interested in subjects like: the financial view, the nightlife and the universities. So I'll go straight to those aspects.

Iasi is very well known also for the nightlife. There are many clubs and many students that enjoy electronic music so if you are a fan of this type of music, then this is your place. Unfortunately, for those who love rock music, there are a few places which can be visited; personally i like to go in "Baza", it's a place where you can enjoy good music (oldies but goodies), awesome people, and every Wednesday you can play Beer Pong. Also... it' s the place where most Erasmus students come.

Iasi is known for the first modern University from Romania- Alexadru Ioan Cuza University. This Uni has all the faculties except Medicine(and its branches), and for the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Grigore T. Popa (very well organized program).

What is the student lifestyle like in Iasi?

As a student you can have a very good time here because this city is full of students and most of them are willing to know new people, to socialize and to help when you're in need. Like i said before, the nightlife is awesome here.

How much does it cost to live in Iasi?

Living in Iasi can be easy from a financial point of view; I'll be short and I'll give you some examples:

  • In pubs- one beer 5 lei up to 10 lei, soda same price, shots from 6 to 10 lei and so on;
  • In restaurants- one pizza from 17 to 30 lei (large size), soup 10-12 lei;
  • In markets- water(2L) 2 lei, soda(every kind 2L)-5 lei, beer(Becks)-2/3 lei etc

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Iasi? Is there any advice you can give?

Talking about the staying: If you want a room for your own, it can cost from 100 euros up to 300 (without utilities taxes)..depends on the localization and the conditions.

I personally think that it's better to get some information about the dormitories. It can cost from 200 lei to 450 lei including all the costs.

I think you will need monthly at least 300 euros, if you're staying in a dorm.
