Why did you choose to go to Iasi, Romania?
I was curious, and I don't regret my choice.
How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?
It lasts 5 months, and I receive €3000.
What is the student lifestyle like in Iasi?
There are many parties, and many other students who come from different countries. It's very interesting and you meet a lot of different people. You can spend time with friends in Iasi and travel with not much money.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Iasi to other students?
Yes, sure!
What is the food like?
Romanians eat a lot of chicken, and not a lot of beef. But the food is great.
How much does it cost to live in Iasi?
€150 per month. Not very different to France, the economic power for foreigners in Iasi is bigger than in euro countries.
Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?
Romanian language is a mix between Spanish and Latin, I think. Language courses are available for Erasmus students.
What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Iasi from your city?
By plane.
Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Iasi?
"La baza", "Cannabis", "Underground", "Meru", "Times" and "College bar". Many parties are organized next to the "Lac", and others with a resident DJ.
And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Iasi?
"Mamma Mía" and "Vivo".
What good cultural sites are there to visit?
Cluj, Timisoara, Constanta, Bucarest... the train is free for Iasi students throughout the entire country, so enjoy that!
Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Iasi in the future?
Don't worry, it's a very funny place!
