Henna

Today I tried Vacutherm for the second time! It was not horrible at all. Therefore, I decided to buy a membership! Hopefully I will go there at least once per week. It is all about habit. I just needed to get used to the heat and I already knew what to expect. Today it was such a great day. I finally received a phone call that I was accepted to Provident! So my Excel test was not so terrible or another people were worse. I felt so happy even though I will start on July 11th. At least I already have one job where I can learn new finance issues and I can put it in my CV. So I just need to find a second job – probably in a café or bar where I can relax and work in my free time!

I also decided to dye my hair with henna after a whole semester. Henna is a natural dye for your hair. It all started with one friend. I had been dyeing my hair with chemical colour for ages. I knew my hair was not healthy as it was a little bit damaged but as I normally have thin weak hair it is difficult to manage it even without dyeing. Never mind, once my friend told me she dyed her hair with colourless henna! I was wondering why she would do it. She told me that henna was beneficial for her hair and she cared about healthiness of her hair. She convinced me that henna is great for hair. When I was thinking about it I thought: She must have been right. If it did not work she would not be bothering herself with spending a lot of time by dyeing it every month. Therefore I decided to try it with my mum.

Firstly, we bought some cheap henna which was recommended on the internet. My first feelings were awful. In comparison to normal colour this smelled terrible and it looked like mud! It was even green. We actually did not know how to apply henna. We just read that we should add hot water and wait two hours but on the internet there were many advices – it was difficult to choose the right one. The girls were saying that you can add many ingredients to make the effect bigger. In addition, you should have different temperature of water for red henna and for brown henna and so on. They were also saying that it was better to let henna affect your hair the whole night. We simply tried it and we were quite disappointed. Not only that hair did not look healthier, the colour was not visible at all. Moreover, the application of henna was complicated. When I was talking to my friend about it I found out we might have bought the wrong henna because there are many kinds of them.

Secondly, we bought a special brand of henna Lush. It was the most expensive one. The application was better but the effect was same. We again did not see any difference in healthiness of our hair and the colour did not work as well. We wanted to have our hair black. Therefore, we did a research on the internet and we found out henna is naturally red and it is difficult to make your hair black with it. We were supposed to buy special kind of henna called: Black Indigo. In the meantime I decided to try brown or red henna. That´s why only my mum tried indigo and I bought brown shade of henna – same brand. We were surprised. The colour finally worked for my mother! She really accomplished having black hair with henna. It did not work for me and we still did not see any difference in structure of our hair.

I almost decided to come back to chemical colours but after few months we noticed that henna had effect also on me. In the meantime we changed the brand of henna to Khadi. My hair was somewhere red on the sun and I started to like it because it had red reflections. It has been at least one year since we first used henna. I don´t really know if my hair is healthier but I decided to give it a chance again because henna might show its effect after a longer period. Today I added lemon and black tea into the mixture to make it stronger.

It was the first time that henna worked! I was so surprised. I do not know how it is possible but it can be caused by the fact that I washed my hair before applying henna or that I added tea or lemon inside. In any case the colour is finally visible! I liked it so much! It is something between brown and red – exactly what I wanted. Therefore, I am gonna continue dyeing my hair with henna.

Next day in the morning we went for a trip to Nové Město nad Metují to visit my father and grandparents. My sister loves travelling by bus but it was the worst travel ever. It reminded me of times when I had been commuting to my grammar school every day around 6 am and the bus was always totally crowded! Firstly, we could not even find a free seat for us. I could not imagine standing 45 minutes in that stifling weather at all. Suddenly we saw a reservation seat so we just sat there. It was awful sitting together on one seat in crowded bus but better than standing. I can not understand why they do not provide more buses! It was like this all the time when I travelled from Nové Město to Hradec few a years ago. Of course it is unacceptable to stand in the bus for 45 minutes where there is no air, but nobody cares because they have lower costs for providing only one bus and more profit for so many people. We were lucky because nobody notified that the reservation seat was his or her's. When we got to Nové Město my grandfather was already waiting for us. The weather was totally crazy. We were not able to walk for longer than 30 minutes! I was surprised that we felt better inside the flat because they had closed windows.

We went for an ice-cream during the afternoon with Juliette and Ludek and she was totally happy to see his small dog as she would love to have a dog! She did not want to drop him. Later, we went to the small stadium with the playground where I used to play as a small child. It was all rebuilt. They were doing a barbecue there which I love, so we decided to have something to eat. What a surprise when a girl told us that it was company´s event so we did not have to pay for it. My sister was playing there for a long time and we were just sitting on the bench trying to survive the hot weather. I was telling everybody my stories from France and my future plans. Later, my grandmother cooked for me my favourite meal – sirloin. She also decided to bake a cake and after I ate everything she did not forget to mention that I should exercise more because I probably ate too much in France.

During the evening we were watching a fairy tale in TV. I like these days at grandparent's place to relax even though there is not much to do. That´s why we were looking forward to Saturday because we went to the outdoor swimming pool. My sister went crazy. We came there around 10 am and she was able to spend whole time in the swimming pool until 4. 30 pm! I wanted to take a rest on my towel lying but she did not allow me to do it. I had to watch her the whole time. I can´t understand how anybody can have so much energy. She was changing the swimming pools – small and big one all the time. She did not want to spend any minute without water.

When I checked the temperature of the water I was shocked. In our swimming pool at home we have around 32 degrees temperature and here there was only 24. It was such a big difference. I almost was not able to go inside but the hot weather was so strong that I managed to do it.

I wanted to use the time there so I was sunbathing the whole time. It was not the smartest idea. When we were leaving the swimming pool we both were totally red. Totally. It hurt so much. Even though we used sun cream it did not help. Probably a whole day on the sun is too much. We have to suffer for beauty or we should be more careful. There was no special food. They had only ice-cream, french fries, fried cheese, hamburger and hot dog. Hot dog is Juliette´s favourite food so she took two of them right away. We had such a nice day together with my father. We were again speaking about everything that happened during last 6 months. He had his birthday in April so we brought him a present - a white t-shirt. The time went fast and my mum picked us up there. There was our celebration party of state exams ahead.

We made a reservation in the restaurant Na Hrade. I don´t like organizing parties so much. Someone is always unhappy with the place or date. You have to ask everybody if they can come and then you are disappointed if they say they are coming for sure and five minutes before the party they change their mind. Nevertheless, we decided to organize one party with Lucy because we were not together for a long time with people from Hradec. We chose this restaurant because they have special food called: chicken shreds and we love it and the beer is good there too. Unfortunately, they did not have place for us in non-smoking area. There was again stifling weather. Even though it was raining when I was in the bus on my way there it did not help. That´s why I took my summer dress. I did not know everybody well but my friends were gradually coming.

Nobody wanted to share the food with me so it was a good opportunity to avoid fried meal. Normally I don´t like this place much and it was the same this time. The waitress was terrible! I think I perceive things differently since I was working one year in a restaurant. I know well that the attitude of a waitress is the most important thing about her job and I could not even imagine that I would be unpleasant to guests at work. This waitress did not care at all. She was unwilling to do anything for us and after few minutes we found out that to expect smile from her would be too much. I had two beers there and we were waiting for others.

Then the breaking point came. I was speaking to Nikca – my classmate from high school and I was telling her that Dan was coming, but he was not satisfied with the fact that we decided to go to the restaurant because the weather was hot and he would prefer being outside. I am already used to that there is always problems when we organize a party with Lucy from Dan´s point of view but I did not expect that it could result in his leaving. He just came there. He drunk a beer and announced: “Let´s move somewhere else. I can stand this air anymore”. Of course it was reasonable and everybody would prefer being outside but when we made a reservation we had no idea how the weather could be. When I saw my beer with more than half of the amount I ordered I knew I was not able immediately leave the bar. Another friends also had a full glass. I just suggested we could wait for everybody or they could find a place outside for us and let us know. It was unbearable for him. He got totally angry: “Baru, are you kidding me? How can you drink two beers in two hours? ” For me it was ridiculous. When I was closer to him I would solve the problem, but I am already used to being independent of him. I totally forgot that it would be like this. Of course I did not drink my beer to leave the place only because Dan said it. I just answered we would leave when we were finished. It was too much for him so he left. I would like to mention this whole situation lasted few minutes. So he just came, spent with us 10 minutes complaining and he left. This evening was supposed to be our celebration so I ignored it, even though everybody was speaking about it whole night.

Around 10 pm we decided to go outside. We bought some bottles of wine in an unknown wine bar and they gave it to us cooled and open. We moved to a nice place in Hradec even though it was not probably allowed to drink there. We spent a lot of time there and I was so happy to see everybody and talk with everybody. “Old” friends who know you well since high school are always a good company. In the end I was happy we organized it and I hope to see them soon. We had a lot of fun, but when we finished our bottles we wanted to eat something or buy another bottle of wine. We sent two our friends to explore the city. We were waiting for them long time as it seemed unbelievable. Unfortunately, everything was closed. I really wanted to stay longer but at that time I was already freezing because it was around 1 am. Therefore, I decided to call my mum to pick me up. We also took my friend Honza and I was at home around 3 am. I had such a nice time with everybody!
