What is it like to live in Hildesheim? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
The city center is kinda grey, but on a lovely sunny day it’s wonderful to walk through the old town of Hildesheim and sit in the sun and hang with all the other students in the city.
What is the student lifestyle like in Hildesheim?
There are quite a lot of young people due to the university. The Uni is pretty nice and there are many nice places to chill and hang-out.
How much does it cost to live in Hildesheim?
Rent is between 250€ - 500€ I would guess depending on where you live and what kind of apartment you chose. It is pretty affordable tho.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Hildesheim? Is there any advice you can give?
For me it was quite easy. You can find a nice Group-apartment and even an apartment for yourself can be found on the right website.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
There are quite a few restaurants of all kind. Wether you like Burger, Sushi, Indian or Turkish. There is something for everyone. Also vegan options.
What places would you recommend visiting in Hildesheim?
The old town.
Is it good to eat out in Hildesheim? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
As I said, there are quite a few restaurants. I really like the Indian place and „Sushi-Freunde“
Is the nightlife good in Hildesheim? Where is good to go?
There are two or three night clubs with lots of students. I haven’t been partying a lot but the times I went it was always fun!
What advice would you give future students heading to Hildesheim?
The teachers and professors are all nice and you can always talk to them for advice. It’s a tipical German city.
