Why did you choose to go to Helsinki, Finland?

Because University of Helsinki is a highly acknowledged university, in which I was taught in English. Also, I had received good reviews from my fellow students.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

The duration of my studies was one semester (5 months). I got 550 EUR in total. For the accommodation I paid 390 EUR (HOAS apartment in Pasila - 10 sq. m. bedroom in the apartment with 5 other people with shared bathroom and kitchen). The rest 160 EUR was more or less enough for the food and transport. For the transport I paid 100 EUR for 5 months in total (as a student). I could use all means of transport in Helsinki.

What is the student lifestyle like in Helsinki?

It is very fun. The most important thing is not to sit alone and go make new friends. It is a rather safe city where you can ride a bicycle, go for a walk or simply get lost somewhere in the city. At night there are several nice places to have fun.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Helsinki to other students?

YES!!!

What is the food like?

Food is tasty, you can find anything you'd like in supermarkets. Alcohol beverages are rather expensive.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Helsinki?

No (HOAS).

How much does it cost to live in Helsinki?

390 EUR for my room in the student house in Pasila region (HOAS accommodation company).

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Language is rather difficult. I studied Swedish, as it is the second official language in the country. It is very much alike German language. Though I heard from friends' experience that Finnish is a very interesting language and a great experience to learn :)

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Helsinki from your city?

From Vilnius I chose to go to Helsinki by plane. It is also possible to take a ferry.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Helsinki?

Kappeli, Regatta cafe

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Suomenlinna, Rock church, Korkeasaari Zoo, Kaivopuisto, Esplanadi street
