Will I leave for Canada?

Last time, I posted an article about how I left a small village Santiago de Atitlan and went to the capital city of Guatemala called Ciudad de Guatemala. I have mentioned that I stayed in a house via Couchsurfing and as I had a really nice company, I did not hurry to do my check-in. I just decided to do it after midnight.

Stop

I did not want to pay for an early check-in. I honestly did not see a reason why I should do. I simply thought it does not matter whether I have got the tickets one day before the flight or more days in advance because after all, everyone needs to have them on the concrete day of the flight.

So the day when I was allowed to do the online check-in came. I used my phone to go through the whole process and with the greatest ease went to the website I needed for the process.

However, as soon as I got there and tried to enter into my “flight account” I was stopped. It did not want to let me continue. I could not get through anything any further!

Where should I travel next?

When I was still volunteering in Guatemala, I was checking flights from Canada to the USA or even to Mexico. I felt like travelling more once I was that far from Europe. I found really cheap tickets but I knew that before buying anything I should also check what documents were needed for being let into the country.

It was easy to guess and even easier to find information about the fact that if I wanted to enter the United States of America, I would need something which is not concretely a visa but it works kind of the same. If there is someone who wants to apply for it, he or she can, but (s)he has to pay a fee. It is also not 100% confirmed that everyone who applies will get it approved.

Anyway, after spending more and more time in Guatemala, I was getting more and more excited about going to Canada and then flying back home without any other further stop. I just wanted to get back home to relax a bit with my family before leaving again and before starting a new job. Moreover, the prices of the flights were getting up and up, it was increasing rapidly. SO I decided to buy a ticket Canada – Czech Republic.

There is something missing

What happened that evening before I was supposed to fly from Guatemala to Canada was that I was informed that I do not have those kinds of visa for the USA. Oh, that was true! I understood immediately what was going on.

As it was not a direct flight and I had to land in Miami first before getting on a different flight from Miami to Toronto, i needed the visa. I knew that it was needed even if I was supposed to land just for five minutes. But as I was also considering going to the USA as a tourist and finally declined this idea, I completely forgot about the visa.

What to do now?

Obviously, I was shocked and I could not believe how come this happened. How come I was able to forget about it completely. Well, I knew I need to give it a try and apply for that visa as soon as possible. So I went to the official website and started typing.

I had to fill n my details when another plug appeared. The system did not know my address. It kept repeating that either the name of the street was not correct or the name of the town. Believe me, I spent like twenty minutes just trying typing my address. Finally, I found a piece of advice via Google, so then I just ticked a box about my address and I was allowed to continue with the application process.
