Guatemala and who we are...
So let's start by stating some facts...
In Guatemala we do speak Spanish (in a very unique way actually), but let me put it this way: WE ARE NOT SPANIARDS, we are Guatemalans. And, by the way, the term Guatemalan refers to the population of this nation and not to a language; there isn't such thing as "speaking guatemalan"!
Other than this, the beautiful land of Guatemala is located in Central America, and not South America. So we are a small (yet gorgeous) country which is right under Mexico, next to Belize and above El Salvador and Honduras. So there you go, now that you know where it is, waze it and get going ;) !
Cultural fact now, the Mayans (amazing, impressive and disappeared civilization) made out of this little country their home. And left us a treasurable inheritage in many areas, such as: agriculture, traditions, architecture and so so much more! So if you want to hear all about how the world was supposed to end 6 years ago just go to Tikal (the city with all the pyramids you see on NatGeo) and you'll be mindblown.
However, don't let this fool you. The mayans, the pyramids, the tortillas (delicious delicious corn delicacy), and the indigenous people is all they advertise about Guatemala in the media. BUT we are much more than that! We are proud of this all but just like any other country we do have cities, buildings, roads, cars, and HOUSES!! It would be cool, but no I don't live on a tree. So if your thing is not nature then you'll still enjoy this paradise. We have beautiful architecture, colorful sights, and loads of gorgeous restaurants which often serve UNLIMITED COFFEE (pure Guatemalan coffee which is nothing like the one you get in Starbucks by the way) and where the service is great because our people are the kindest.
So about the people... We, the Guatemalans, or also called "Chapines", are extremely kind, outgoing and SMILEY!!!! And even if we have a difficult life due to inequality we still never leave our homes without our smiles on.
Wanna come yet? ...
