What is it like to live in Groningen? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Living in Groningen is absolutely awesome. Groningen has a lot to offer, a great city centre with a huge offer of shops, an awesome nightlife with a lot of different bars, cafes and discotheques, a lot of things to do (like sports, architecture, history, music and restaurants). Moreover, the student facilities for studying are also a big plus.
Groningen is a vibrant city with over 40.000 students.

What is the student lifestyle like in Groningen?

I would consider the student lifestyle of Groningen quite relaxed. Every student, ofcourse, is here to study so everybode is studying in the UB (University Library), at home, or at Zernike complex. So you can study together or have a break with eachother.
After studying you can grab a beer with friends and eat togher. It is never a dull day at Groningen because the nightlife is always 'open'.
Furthermore, if you live in Groningen, you have to have a bike. It is easy to have one because everything is within reach by bike.

How much does it cost to live in Groningen?

It depends how much you spend ofcourse but the rooms are quite cheap if you have a room just outside the city centre.
Furthermore, nightlife is not expensive at all. I guess (in the piek-uren 'happy hours') a beer is 1 euro, otherwise it is 2 euro.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Groningen? Is there any advice you can give?

In my opinion, it is not difficult to find accommodation in Groningen. Just check out kamernet.nl for a lot of offers of rooms in Groningen.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

The food is just western food, so it depends what you like. Ofcourse we have typical Dutch dishes like kroket, boerenkool, stamppot etc.

Is it good to eat out in Groningen? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Yes, there a lot of (cheap) restaurants in Groningen. My favourites are;
- 't Zwarte Schaap
- Bij de Brandweer
- Oosterpoort
- Opera
- 't Uurwerk
- Mofongo
- Soepwinkel
