Very chill city. Has a small town energy with a lot of students. Everyone owns a bike. Cute canals. It's a really cool place to study and live.

What is the student lifestyle like in Groningen?

It's a student city so there are a lot of advantages to being a student while living here. Majority of the population are students, so everyone pretty much understands you and there are a lot of activities and discounts for students, especially on the first few months of the first semester.

How much does it cost to live in Groningen?

If you're a responsible human being, not much actually. I spent a lot of my money on clothes and foodm so I'm not a good example. But it's cheaper than most places.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Groningen? Is there any advice you can give?

Oh man, definitely. If you plan on finding accommodation for a good price, get it 3 months earlier than when you plan to arrive. In fact, waaaay before summer begins. If you're a first year student, I recommend student housing. It'll save you a lot of trouble.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

A lot of fish, bread and cheese. I'm vegan and I don't eat that much bread so I'm not an expert on the "traditional" food here, but if you're vegan too, there are a lot of options too and sometimes they offer to make you a special vegan option in restaurants which is really nice.

Is the nightlife good in Groningen? Where is good to go?

It's a student town so if you walk around in the center, there's a bar like every 10 mins.

Book housing early. Trust me.
