Why did you choose to go to Groningen, Netherlands?

It is one of the destinations of my Erasmus Mundus master's course. University of Groningen has a strong research profile in the field that I'm studying in, and that's why I chose to attend this program.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

2 years, 1000 EUR per month

What is the student lifestyle like in Groningen?

It's a student city with a lot of young people, so it has got this lively feeling. The university is a pretty good one, so there's always a lot of people in the library. Other than studying, there are lots of interesting shops around, good food to eat, and parks with lakes and lawns to relax.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Groningen to other students?

Yes!

What is the food like?

As the student canteen is quite expensive, I mostly cook by myself. Groceries at the Vismarkt is quite cheap, so I usually buy lots of fruits, and make my own dishes at home. There are all kinds of restaurants out there, although some of them are quite expensive. Lots of coffee shops around the city as well. And I like the Dutch stroopwafels!

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Groningen?

Yes. Lefier registration took 30 EUR

How much does it cost to live in Groningen?

I pay my rent for around 400 EUR a month

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Yes, Dutch is similar to English, and almost everyone speaks English so there are few difficulties with that. There are language courses offered.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Groningen?

Pasta Fabriek is very close to the city center campus of the university, and it's one of the cheapest options. Their pizzas are also pretty good

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Groninger museum, Noordelijk Scheepvaartmuseum, the University museum
