Eleusis
Eleusis (today Elefsina, close to Athens) was an important cultic place as the secret rites of the fertility goddess Demeter took place here.
The ruins of the temple are still impressive ... surely they were great!
This relief on a sarcophagus depicts a wild hunt in which one of the hunters is injured by a boar ... will he survive?
This is a very elaborate vase ... look at the colours and decorations!
Here, two lusty satyrs meet and have a drink while one is riding on a swan ... business as usual, I guess.
Thanks to our wonderful tour guides Elena and Christina! :)
