What do you think of living in Granada? Would you recommend it?

For me, Granada is one of the best cities in the world. I'd struggle to find anything bad to say about it.

It's a small city but with an incredible cultural environment. It is a very beautiful city, full of life with the open Anadlucian character but also with a mix of cultures, young people and street artists.

Furthermore, the prices are really cheap and there is always an atmosphere. It's a very safe city and the weather is good, however the summers are ridiculously hot and the winters which are very cold, but everywhere is well acclimatised.

How is the student life in Granada?

Granada is the first destination for Erasmus in Spain and one of the best universities in the country. The student environment is exactly what gives the city life, functionality and entrepreneurship.

It's impossible to take 2 steps without being stopped by someone offering you to go to a bar, pub, club or new shop. The offers of the city are overwhelming.

What is the cost of living in Granada?

Living in Granada is very cheap. You can find a room to rent from 120€ a month and studios for 300€.

There are also lots of independent shops: the typical everyday local shop, the bar to have breakfast every morning, the Saturday pub...

The prices of the bars are amazing, in most places you will find a drink + tapas for 2 - 5€

Was it difficult to find accommodation in Granada? Can you give any advice?

Well, in my first year I stayed in halls of residence to meet new people because I didn't have anyone to live with. All the people who live in halls are first and second years, so everyone moves into a flat after. My halls were called Student XD and they were a bit expensive like all the other residences in Granada. You will find it difficult to come across anything for less than 600€ a month. Mine cost 750€ with breakfast, lunch and dinner included, excluding the weekends. It had a double bed with private bathroom, TV and a fridge.

To live in a flat is quite simple, just put flats to rent, or room to rent in Granada into Google. If you don't have a group of people to live with and are only looking for room, you will find lots of pages on Facebook where you can find people looking for flatmates.

How is the food? What are your favourite dishes?

The gastronomy of the city is amazing like all Spanish food. The special features of this city are its low prices and the amount of places to have tapas and eat out. Just below you can find another blog entry I wrote about where to eat in Granada.
