My Experience in Granada, Spain by Adrián
What was it like living in Granada? Would you recommend it, and why?
It's an incredible city. Being so small you can get to anywhere easily and there's many interesting, cultural, and fun places to visit. I've been living here as a student for 4 years and I've never been bored- there is always something to do in this city! You might take a month to get to know Granada, but I 100% recommend it, and so does any Erasmus student living here too. I know, because I hang out with them every day!
What's the student vibe like in Granada?
Really good! There's students from loads of different provinces, countries and continents here, and from my experience, there's a really friendly atmosphere and rapport between everybody.
How much does it cost to live in Granada?
I'm a university student and live in a shared flat, and I'd say I spend about 400/500€ a month... but it depends on how much of a spender you are!
Did you struggle to find accommodation in Granada? Can you offer a few words of advice?
Well, it's not difficult to find somewhere to live, it's just difficult to find somewhere nice to live that isn't going to cost an arm and a leg. Ideally, you want to live near the centre or near plaza Einstein. My advice is to definitely look in advance, and cross your fingers you find the perfect place!
What's the host country's food like? What are your favourite dishes?
The food in Spain is really good, everybody knows that it has a delicious cuisine. In Granada, it's really cheap to eat if you choose the typical tapas.
What places in Granada would you recommend visiting?
There's lots of places to visit, but they're always the most typical and touristy. La Alhambra has some cool different viewpoints, like San Nicolás and San Miguel Alto, and there's loads of plazas and parks to go to. I'd say the best thing to do is to discover all these places for yourself by walking around the city.
Where would you recommend going out in Granada?
There's loads of pretty good clubs such as Mae West, La Bumbum Rum, Camborio, Campus and Vogue, but it depends on what you like. There's thousands of pubs!
Is there any advice you'd give to future students coming to Granada?
If you're studying a hard subject, try not to take on too many lessons and enjoy the city and student life! Definitely make sure you live close to the centre or near plaza Einstein, and just make the most of the city and enjoy your life!
