Experience in Granada, Spain by Giulia
What is it like to live in Granada? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
I really recommend Granada for the Erasmus experience. It'a a great city: dynamic, there are so many students and a wonderful landscape. Seaside is close and it's also under the Sierra Nevada. You can find the real Spanish (and Arabic) culture for the food and the traditional flamenco. Alhambra is one of the most beautiful ancient building I've never seen!
What is the student lifestyle like in Granada?
You can find anything you need beause everything is close, the city is not too big, You can go walking and you can enjoy the market, the city center with its architecture, the Sacromonte neiborhood. University is one of the most famous in Spain. There are so many places to go out and to meet new friends.
How much does it cost to live in Granada?
Granada is not expensive at all, you can eat with 5€ per day. Tapas are most of time free with a drink. To share a flat with other students in the city center, it costs about 120€ for month.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Granada? Is there any advice you can give?
It's not dfficult, you can find small adds even on the street, but easily at the university or on internet.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
Tapas are good, especially of fish or potatoes! It also depends by the places. Calle Elvira is the most famous street to go out and to find something good, cheap and fast to eat!
What places would you recommend visiting in Granada?
For sure you need to visit the cathedral and the market wth its smelling spices in the city center, but above all the ancient part of Granada: Albaycin and Sacromonte for the flamenco shows.

It's good and cheap eating out especially in the city center there are so many different spots, also around the university. My favourite one was Babel in Calle Elvira.
Is the nightlife good in Granada? Where is good to go?
It's good to go out because almost every night there are people around, eating tapas since about 9 p. m. and drinking delicious tinto de verano or cerveza! There are erasmus parties organized in discos or alternative places with regge music or live concerts.
What advice would you give future students headed to Granada?
Go and enjoy it! Granada is the heart of Andalusia for its culture and its people so "Andalusian"!
