Why did you choose to go to Granada, España?

To experience a new culture during my studies and to learn Spanish, as I wish to teach English as an additional language or provide good foundations to teach Spanish as an additional language.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I am studying in Granada for 6 months. I received £2, 000 as an Erasmus grant plus help with maintenance grant from home institution.

What is the student lifestyle like in Granada?

Everyone is very friendly and I have met many people from around the world.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Granada to other students?

Yes, definitely.

The food is amazing, better to stay out of the tourist areas. Free tapas with every beer.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Granada?

Yes I had to pay a months worth of Rent upfront which goes to the estate agents. But if you go through student agents I don't think you have to pay, I'm not sure.

How much does it cost to live in Granada?

It is fairly cheap for travel, food and drink. The cost of Gas is 20 euros per bottle which I need for hot water, so fairly normal compared to England. The other bills are a lot cheaper.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Yes, language courses are available at a discounted price for students.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Granada from your city?

I generally walk everywhere so I wouldn't know. Everywhere is within walking distance, maximum around 1 hour.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Granada?

Planta Baja, Booga club, Vogue are all really good. I went to Boom Boom room is a club just off the shopping street. I didn't really like it.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Granada?

La Fontana has amazing food although a bit touristic.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Alhambra, Albaicin, Sacramonte, Carmen de los Martires (gardens near the Alhambra, free to look around and I fed some peacocks there).

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Granada in the future?

Learn Spanish before you come, it will make everything so much easier. It is not an English speaking city, contrary to what I was told by my home University.
