Erasmus Experience in Granada, Spain by Imtiaz
Why did you choose to go to Granada, Spain?
I chose Granada for my first semester. Buzzwords like- Tapas, Alhambra, Albaycin, Andalucian culture, historical places, bars, fun loving people were really alluring to me. The city actually never sleeps which is always vibrant. Also the University of Granada is one of the best Universities in Spain.
How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?
I got the Erasmus Mundus category A scholarship which provides full scholarship with enough money for living and travelling also.
What is the student lifestyle like in Granada?
Students are always having fantastic life within managing study at the University, doing work in the library, hanging out for Tapas, watching football game together and studying hard during exam... In the winter going to Sierra Nevada to ski has also one of the better charms.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Granada to other students?
My experience in Granada will stay forever in my heart. I wish to go back again and visit the vast unexplored areas which I left there. The weather is good, the surroundings stunning and the people lovely.
The University of Granada will be a great experience, as you will streghten your studying skills with the help of really helpful professors. As far as I know, this university receives a lot of foreign exchange students every year. So you will have a great chance to meet people from different areas of the world.
Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Granada?
I found the accommodation before arriving. I spoke with the flat owner through email. I found the ad thanks to a previous student who stayed in Granada. I think it will be easy to find an accommodation for new students, they just have to watch advertisements on different portals.
How much does it cost to live in Granada?
Living in Granada is cheap compared to other European cities.
Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?
There are language courses available and Spanish is fun to learn so it will be easier.
The CLM which is under University of Granada is a good place to learn the language. Moreover, I found the teachers from the language courses really helpful and nice.
Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Granada?
Nights out in Granda are fun. There are activities everywhere around the streets in Granada, like in Bar, Pubs, etc.
What good cultural sites are there to visit?
Alhambra, Albayzin and a lot more.
