Erasmus Experience in Granada, Spain
Why did you decide to go to Granada in Spain?
I'd been there before on a trip, and had liked it a lot.
For how many months did you receive the grant? How much money did you receive in financial aid?
3, 6, 9 or 12 months... you choose it depending on what your university offers. You usually receive around 230 euros a months.
What is student life like in Granada?
Fantastic! It is a marvellous city which offers everything at every time of the day and night... it's the perfect Erasmus environment.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Granada to other students?
Of course.
What is the food like?
Good, there's something for everyone, for all tastes.
How did you find accommodation?
I found it on the internet, but it would be better to book for a few days in a hostel and then look around for adverts in person. On a trip around the town, you can find lots of advertisements.
How much does rent cost on average?
Around 200-220 euros a month.
How did you find the language? Are there any language courses at university?
I already knew the language... but I know people who didn't know anything, who after two or three weeks were completely at ease.
What is the cheapest way of getting to Granada from your city?
By plane.
Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Granada?
Everywhere - Vogue, Pedro Antonio, Booga, Kapital, Mae West...
And eating in Granada? Can you talk about your favourite places?
Tapas bars, such as 'El Nido del Buho', an Arab bar across from Calle Puentezuelas (I don't remember the name), and the fish tapas at 'Maymi' and 'Los Diamantes'...
And the cultural places to visit?
The Alhambra, Mirador de San Nicolas, Cuevas...
What advice would you give to future students at The University of Granada?
Leave your thoughts at home, and dedicate this marvellous year to yourselves. Not have limits, go over the top, get things wrong... express yourself. Have fun, let in the light, energy and happiness of Spain, and get all of Andalusia in you... and then try to send all of these wonderful teachings to your loved ones. Live the good life!
