Arrival to a dream country
Hi boys and girls. In this post I will share my very first impressions on my very first flight and the very first foreign country I have been to. I hope you will like it and might also find it useful (sometimes).
My brother and I are posing for mom - pics for memories.
First of all I have to mention that Germany was my dream country for a long time before I got the Erasmus Mundus scholarship for whole 10 months. So after I got my scholarship, I started to believe that dreams come true.
Waiting for my flight and looking forward new impressions and experiences.
I was curious about flying rather than afraid and could not believe that I was really flying to Germany before I did not step my foot in Munich airport.
Fortunately, there was another Georgian girl, who had more experience than me. She was the one who saved me by saying that coffee and tea at Munich Airport are free! I drank 2 teas and one coffee within 6 hours of waiting.
I know, everything I write here might be very funny for everyone who has travel experience, but for beginners who need some time to adapt and realize things, such details might be very useful.
What was next? My flight from Munich to Hannover was cancelled due to technical problems, the next plane was full and I had to wait for the third. Because of that I was given 10 Euros food ticket. Here comes another useful tip - if something like this is happening, try to find out what you should do (change boarding pass or ticket) and maybe you will get something that will save you from starving.
Finally I got to my next plane and flew to Hannover. Again miracles of the western world, I did not get lost and got into the train going to the railway station. I might seemed super weird or most probably stupid, when I was asking if I am standing on the right for train going to Goettingen. Just have a look around if you want to avoid this awkward situation.
If I would have just shaken my brain a bit and realize that western people would put the elevator on the train station for carrying up and down things that one can't carry with hand, I would not carry my luggage down the stairs. Such a shame. But nice German guy kindly helped me it with that. Thank you!
Here is the view from my room.
Finally, I arrived to Goettingen and guess what? I am asking a taxi driver how much he is going to charge me to bring me to the given street. It is interesting how he told me the approximate price. When the price got to the point he told me, he turned off the taximeter and took only amount that he had told. Is not it super nice from him? I think yes!
Still green and warm weather that met me in Germany.
Wish all our dreams come true like mine did!
